History
ChargePoint's journey began in 2007 when it was founded as Coulomb Technologies by Richard Lowenthal, Dave Baxter, and Harjinder Bhade. over the years, it has achieved remarkable milestones
In June 2017, ChargePoint expanded its influence by acquiring 9,800 electric vehicle charging spots from GE. prior to this, ChargePoint managed an extensive network of 34,900 charging stations across Mexico, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
Pasquale Romano took charge as CEO and President in 2018. On November 28, 2018, ChargePoint successfully raised $240 million, maintaining 57,000 charging spots. In 2019, ChargePoint partnered with VW's Electrify America to provide common access to their U.S. customers.
In September 2019, ChargePoint celebrated a significant achievement, reaching 100,000 chargers while continually adding more than 2,000 charging locations each month.
A significant milestone was achieved in February 2021 when ChargePoint went public through a special-purpose acquisition company ("SPAC") reverse merger.
Moving forward, in January 2023, ChargePoint, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and MN8 Energy, announced ambitious plans to deploy 2,500 fast chargers at 400 charging hubs in the U.S., catering to all electric vehicles.
